Bridge Watchkeeper

Job Summary:

Competencies 1-4 for this grade are MANADATORY. You must also complete a minimum of 3 units of competency between 5 and 11.

E.g. Complete and submit competencies 1-4, 6, 8, 10 as your portfolio.

The areas that will be assessed within Bridge Watchkeeper Grade include:

Entry Level Specifications:

• Valid certificate of competency (500 GRT or more / less than 500 GRT) issued in accordance with STCW Reg. II/ 1 or 3.
• An appropriate record of sea service
• Has a valid flag state medical certificate
• Has a valid flag state survival training certificate i.a.w. STCW Reg VI/2
• Has valid certificates for personal survival techniques; fire fighting & fire prevention; elementary first-aid and personal safety & social responsibility (STCW Reg VI/I)
• Valid security related certificates of training in accordance with STCW Reg. VI/6 & the ISPS code.
• Demonstrates knowledge of emergency procedures, including formal training and assessment record of emergency drills / situations
• Demonstrates adequate knowledge & use of the English language i.a.w STCW code table A II/I
• Valid certificates of training with respect to Survival Craft (STCW Reg. VI/2)
• Valid certificates of training with respect to Medical Care (STCW Reg. VI/4 - Table A-VI/4-2)
• Record of competence with respect to SHE training in accordance with STCW Reg. VI/I & 6 and MARPOL 73/78

The following competencies will be assessed through performance criteria:

2) The ability to co-ordinate the vessel & crew during an emergency situation of the DP System and / or Vessel (as appropriate)
3) The ability to coach / mentor personnel and implement effective management and communication techniques in the workplace
4) Operate a dynamic position system maintaining a vessel on station (if appropriate)
5) Control the vessel during Deployment & recovery of anchors
6) Control the vessel during Heavy lifting operations
7) Control the vessel during Diving Operations
8) Control the vessel during Pipelay operations
9) Control the vessel during Well Servicing operations
10) Control the vessel during ROV / Survey Operations
11) Control the vessel during Semi-submersible operations
