Master

Job Summary:

Competencies 1-4 for this grade are MANADATORY. You must also complete a minimum of 3 units of competency between 5 and 11.

E.g. Complete and submit competencies 1-4, 6, 8, 10 as your portfolio.

The areas that will be assessed within Master Grade include:

Entry Level Specifications:

• Valid certificate of competency (500 GRT or more / less than 500 GRT) issued in accordance with STCW Reg. II/2 or 3.
• Has a valid IMCA logbook that is kept up to date, with training, qualifications and experience
• Has a valid flag state medical certificate
• Has a valid flag state survival training certificate i.a.w. STCW Reg VI/2
• Has valid certificates for personal survival techniques; fire fighting & fire prevention; elementary first-aid and personal safety & social responsibility in accordance with STCW Reg VI/I.Record of competence to be a Master taking cognisance of flag and coastal state reqirements at management level
• Record of competence to be a Master demonstrating knowledge of emergency procedures incudung approved fire fighting training in accordance woth STCW Reg A-V1/3
• Demonstrates adequate knowledge & use of the English language i.a.w STCW code table A II/I
• Demonstrates knowledge of emergency procedures, including formal training and assessment record of emergency drills / situations
• Record of Competence should be in accordance with STCW Reg V1/1 and V1/6 and MARPOL 73/78 as amended
• Medical care in accordance with STCW Reg VI/4 (Table A-VI/4-2)
• Security related training and instruction (STCW Reg VI/6)

The following competencies will be assessed through performance criteria:

2) The ability to co-ordinate the vessel & crew during an emergency situation of the DP System and / or Vessel
3) The ability to coach / mentor personnel and implement effective management and communication techniques in the workplace
4) Operate a dynamic position system maintaining a vessel on station (if appropriate)
5) Command & control the vessel during deployment & recovery of anchors
6) Command & control the vessel during heavy lifting operations
7) Command & control the vessel during Diving Operations
8) Command & control the vessel during pipelay operations
9) Command & control the vessel during Well Servicing
10) Command & control the vessel during ROV / Survey Operations
11) Command & control the vessel during Semi-submersibles
