AUV Superintendent

Job Summary:

An AUV Superintendent is regarded as someone who can manage the offshore team in order to achieve outcomes as required by the client and contracting company.

Due to the relative small size of the team the AUV Superintendent must be subject matter expert for all technical matters relating to the operation and management of company AUV systems

It is for this reason that the operational experience forms an important part of the criteria for this grade.

The AUV Superintendent must also be proficient in most aspects of management and this is therefore assessed within this grade as an ongoing competence.

The AUV Superintendent is also expected to coach and assess colleagues in all aspects of sub-sea operations and maintenance.

AUV Superintendents may apply for formal assessment qualifications which are awarded by the awarding body EAL. They are however assessed on their assessment skills within this grade in line with IMCA requirements.

Some criteria in the five competencies within this grade are also found within the AUV supervisor competencies. These competencies are considered to be essential within all supervisory roles. They therefore form the on-going competencies that must be repeated by personnel who wish to remain in the most senior role for offshore personnel involved in sub-sea operations.

Entry Level Specifications:

  • Be in possession of a current and valid offshore medical certificate that is acceptable in the region of the world in which they are employed
  • Be in possession of a current and valid offshore survival certificate that is acceptable in the region of the world in which they are employed
  • Achieve 540 days offshore experience at Supervisor Grade
  • Have a minimum of 72 months in the ROV/AUV, survey and positioning, subsea operations or similar industry
  • Experience in online survey operations
