Grade II Surveyor

Job Summary:

A Grade II Surveyor is regarded as someone who works within the Survey Team during marine survey operations.

They can successfully participate under supervision, in the Survey Project Team during operations and will report directly to the Senior Surveyor.

The Grade II Surveyor is expected to participate in the Competence Management Programme.

Entry Level Specifications:

• Qualification in an appropriate survey related subject. Minimum level HNC/HND or appropriate technical/military experience and qualifications
• Good standard of IT literacy/Team player/Good communication skills
• Valid and current offshore medical certificate that is acceptable in the region of the world in which they are employed
• Valid and current offshore survival certificate that is acceptable in the region of the world in which they are employed

The following competencies will be assessed through performance criteria:

1) The ability to use technical online software packages
2) The ability to monitor data quality from all online survey systems
3) The ability to operate online systems
4) The ability to demonstrate an understanding of system calibrations and the effect of calibration on data quality
5) The ability to manage data, including online logging and records
6) The ability to process survey data
7) The ability to interpret tides and water column parameters
8) The ability to operate positioning systems
9) The ability to understand and assist in calibrations
10) The ability to interpret datums, projections and conventional land survey techniques
