Senior Surveyor

Job Summary:

A Senior Surveyor is regarded as someone who is fully conversant in all survey aspects of marine survey operations.

They can successfully manage the Survey Project Team during operations and will report directly to the Party Chief.

The Senior Surveyor is expected to coach and assess members of the Survey Project Team in line with the Competence Management Programme.

Entry Level Specifications:

• Satisfactory completion of the competence criteria for Surveyor Grade I and be working towards Senior Surveyor grade
• Nominally 200 days operational experience as a Surveyor Grade I
• Valid and current offshore medical certificate that is acceptable in the region of the world in which they are employed
• Valid and current offshore survival certificate that is acceptable in the region of the world in which they are employed

The following competencies will be assessed through performance criteria:

1) The ability to specify data acquisition requirements, plan a survey and control quality
2) The ability to verify the online system and assess the quality of calibration data
3) The ability to establish and administer an onboard data management system
4) The ability to monitor the quality of processed data and compile/present reports
5) The ability to specify the requirements for and planning the acquisition of tidal and water column observations
6) The ability to specify, plan and supervise the provision of positioning systems
7) The ability to specify, plan and supervise a control survey
