Grade II Geotechnical Operator

Job Summary:

A Grade II Geotechnical Operator is regarded as someone who works within the Survey Team during marine survey operations.

They can successfully participate under supervision, in the Geotechnical Project Team during operations and will report directly to the Senior Geotechnical Operator.

The Grade II Geotechnical Operator Engineer is expected to participate in the Competence Management Programme.

The Geotechnical Operator is responsible for the mobilisation, setup, maintenance and operations of all geotechnical systems.

Entry Level Specifications:

• Qualification in an appropriate technical subject. Minimum level HNC/HND or appropriate technical and qualifications.
• Good standard of IT literacy/Team player/Good communication skills
• Valid and current offshore medical certificate that is acceptable in the region of the world in which they are employed
• Valid and current offshore survival certificate that is acceptable in the region of the world in which they are employed

The following competencies will be assessed through performance criteria:

1) Basic operation of data acquisition and associated software for geotechnical equipment
2) Basic Knowledge of maintenance and operation of geotechnical equipment
3) Demonstrate an understanding of launch and recovery/ conveyance systems, and third party system interfacing
4) Demonstrate a basic understanding of the nature of data being acquired, and an appreciation of data quality control
5) The ability to archive and complete key records and logs in line with company requirements
