Grade I Geotechnical Field Engineer

Job Summary:

A Grade I Geotechnical Engineer (Field) is regarded as someone who is conversant with engineering aspects of marine survey operations.

They can successfully participate in the Survey Team during operations and will report directly to the Senior Geotechnical Engineer.

The Grade I Geotechnical Engineer (Field) is expected to coach and assess junior members of the Survey Project Team in line with the Competence Management Programme.

The Geotechnical Engineer (Field) is ultimately responsible for ensuring that all geotechnical aspects of field works are performed correctly and that all acquired data is fit for purpose. Duties may include data acquisition, data interpretation and engineering.

Entry Level Specifications:

  • Satisfactory completion of the competence criteria for Geotechnical Engineer Grade II and be working towards Geotechnical Engineer Grade I
  • Nominally 80 days operational experience and 4 mobilisations as a Geotechnical Engineer Grade II
  • Valid and current offshore medical certificate that is acceptable in the region of the world in which they are employed
  • Valid and current offshore survival certificate that is acceptable in the region of the world in which they are employed
