Senior Data Processor

Job Summary:

A Senior Data Processor is regarded as someone who is fully conversant in all data processing aspects of marine survey operations.

They can successfully manage the data processing team during operations and will report directly to the Party Chief.

The Senior Data Processor is expected to coach and assess members of the Survey Team in line with the Competence Management Programme.

Entry Level Specifications:

• Satisfactory completion of the competence criteria for Data Processor Grade I and be working towards Senior Data Processor grade
• Nominally 200 days operational experience as a Data Processor Grade I
• Valid and current offshore medical certificate that is acceptable in the region of the world in which they are employed
• Valid and current offshore survival certificate that is acceptable in the region of the world in which they are employed

The following competencies will be assessed through performance criteria:

1) The ability to use online logging systems and assist in calibration procedures
2) The ability to understand geodesy and the importance of sound velocity data to positioning and bathymetric systems
3) The ability to identify online survey equipment and explain their capabilities and limitations
4) The ability to demonstrate an advanced understanding of tides
5) The ability to plan and mobilise the offshore processing suite
6) The ability to understand and use advanced data processing methods
7) The ability to use data storage structures. To implement and monitor a data and report quality control system
8) The ability to use advanced CAD skills for survey and charting
9) The ability to use appropriate cartographic techniques, presentation and reporting formats in accordance with client/project specific requirements
10) The ability to plan and write survey reports. To quality control all survey data outputs
11) The ability to implement data management procedures and maintain the processing system
12) The ability to back-up and archive data for transfer onshore
13) The ability to demonstrate an understanding of survey principles and how they are used for planning surveys
